WELD METAL 309L is a stainless steel electrode suitable for welding AISI 309-grade stainless steel in cast or wrought form. It is specially designed to yield a weld deposit of extra-low carbon and 24Cr–12Ni-grade stainless steel. The weld metal is highly resistant to cracks, corrosion, and scaling at temperatures up to 1100 °C. It operates well on AC or DC (+) in all conventional positions. It is easily striking or re-striking,with very little spatter, and easily removes slag with an excellent bead appearance and radiographic quality weld.
APPLICATIONS
WELD METAL 309L is suitable for welding of AISI-grade steel (309L type), straight chrome steel, and the clad side of stainless clad steels; welding of similar and dissimilar steel, e.g., stainless steel to mild steel; and also for extra-low-carbon stainless steel.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Re-dry the electrodes at 200°C for one hour, use low current, short arc, and stringer bead technique. maintain inter pass temperature 150°C max. Use stainless steel wire brush for cleaning the weld. use directly from the oven, store the electrodes in Dry Place.
