WELD METAL 316L is a rutile type of stainless steel electrode suitable for welding AISI 316L and 317L equivalent-grade stainless steel. It is specially designed to yield a weld deposit of extra-low carbon and 20Cr-14Ni-grade stainless steel. The presence of molybdenum provides creep resistance to cracks, corrosion, and scaling at high temperatures up to 850°C. It operates well on AC or DC (+) in all conventional positions. It is easily striking or re-striking, with very little spatter, and easily removes slag with an excellent bead appearance with a radiographic quality weld.
APPLICATIONS
WELD METAL 316L is suitable for welding AISI-grade steel as 316L, 317L type, or equivalent grade, as well as welding low-carbon, high-molybdenum bearing austenitic stainless steel. Suitable for chemical, textile, milk plant, fertilizer plant, oil plant, and paint industry plants.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Re-dry the electrodes at 200°C for one hour; use low current, a short arc, and the stringer bead technique. maintain an inter-pass temperature of 150°C max. Use a stainless steel wire brush for cleaning the weld. use directly from the oven, store the electrodes in a dry place.
